Privacy
Privacy by design
Master of Budgets was built so that your financial data never has to be trusted to anyone — including us.
No bank connection
The app never connects to your bank. There is no Plaid, no aggregator, no stored bank credentials. You enter your starting balance and log transactions yourself. This keeps your credentials private and builds the kind of awareness that actually changes habits.
On your device — web or iPhone
Master of Budgets runs as a web app and as a native iPhone app. Either way, it stores everything in a local database on your own device. You don't need an account or even an email to use it — just open it and start budgeting. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you explicitly turn on cloud sync, and you can export your entire database as a file from Settings at any time. You own it completely.
Email only for optional sync
The one time we collect an email is if you choose to create an account for cloud sync — an optional Premium feature for backing up your budget and using it across your devices and the web. You can sign in with email, Google, or Apple. When sync is on, your data is compressed and encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM using a passphrase only you know, before it ever leaves. The server stores an encrypted blob it cannot read — not even the developer can access your data.
We never track your spending
Master of Budgets does not run ads in the app, does not sell data, and never tracks, analyzes, or reads your transactions — your budget is yours alone. The business model is simple: an optional subscription unlocks unlimited accounts, the full forecast, and cloud sync. Subscriptions are handled by the App Store and RevenueCat, which record only that you subscribed and which plan — never your financial data.
